Jeff & Janis Roach, Instructors
Jeff Roach graduated with a B.S. from Abilene Christian University in 1986 and has been in the transportation and freight brokerage industry ever since. He first worked as a traffic manager. He then went on to work for a major less-than-truckload carrier, whose philosophy was that you needed to experience every phase of the job before achieving a management position. He started out working nights on the freight docks, supervising the loading and unloading of shipments. After that, he worked as an inside account sales representative, and was soon promoted to outside sales for national accounts. He then obtained a position with a major truckload carrier with an airfreight division, where he held the position of Vice-President of National Accounts. In 1995, he began operating his own freight brokerage, which he grew into a multi-million dollar business. He began developing freight broker/agent courses in 2001.
Jan Roach graduated with B.S. from Baylor University in 1982. She entered the transportation field in 1995 when she became a partner in a freight brokerage operation. She has over 10 years of experience in running a brokerage/agency including sales, marketing, accounting/claims, and day-to-day operations inside of a brokerage. She has also provided training in the industry since 2001.
Both Jeff and Janis have an entertaining and inspiring teaching style. Graduates leave the course overloaded with practical information, helpful resources and the motivation to change their life (just read through the testimonials page).

Ron Moore, School Director
Ron Moore, director of the Freight Broker Training course in Florida, has a mile-long resume of experience in Transportation. He knows how to teach everything in the field, because he’s done it. In his 40+ years, he has earned his nickname, “O Wise One.”
“It was always my desire to help other people become successful.” Ron began his career as a union dock worker, yard-jockey, and driver. Within a decade, he was supervising a fleet of union drivers as the Operations Manager. His journey took him through large and small trucking operations, expanding his understanding of the entire industry. He is an expert at bettering any operation he touches. For example, he became president of a struggling 62 truck flatbed and specialized operation. Seventeen of the trucks were unmanned. He filled all those trucks, acquired 20 additional trucks, thus turning the company into a very profitable venture. While Ron was a recruiter of agents and owner-operators at Pacer, the business grew 78%. At Landstar, he earned numerous awards for top revenue producer including the Jeffry Crowe/Bob Zonnville Lifetime Achievement award.
He is anxious to guide others into becoming top revenue producers, as well. He remembers how it was just starting out, and the exhilarating feeling of reward, when the hard work pays off. He is a great encourager and is greatly anticipating being a part of this new beginning of the Florida division of Brooke Training.

Jeff Ashcraft, Instructor
Jeff Ashcraft cut his teeth in transportation selling cars, quickly becoming a top sales manager. He then moved into the freight brokerage arena. Over the years he has earned expert status in the transportation industry. He teaches from his wealth of experience as a salesman, sales manager, freight broker, and all assets of freight broker operations. Jeff passes on his passion for the brokerage business and the opportunity to own your own business to his students. He shares specific lessons, both good and bad, that he has learned throughout his career. Jeff helps students apply the lessons he learned to starting their own career as a freight broker and a business owner. Brooke Transportation Training Solutions is expanding across the nation with the addition of Jeff as an instructor.
Jeff graduated from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business in 1988. He started his ‘adult’ life in the automobile business and was the assistant new car manager at a large Toyota dealership for five years. He was in the prestigious ‘Presidents Club’ for two of those years, putting him in the top 5% of all Toyota salespeople nationwide. Additionally, his ‘customer satisfaction’ was the second highest amongst the members of the Presidents Club. While in the automobile business, Jeff learned how to build relationships and take care of customers. He uses the skills learned early in his career daily.
In 1994 he transitioned freight brokering at Burlington Motor Carriers. In addition to brokerage, he gained operations experience in both the refrigerated and blanket wrap divisions. After his stint at Burlington, Jeff helped start an operation (started with one truck, and grew to 175 trucks) for Knight Transportation in Indianapolis. While his main responsibility was sales, because it was a start-up operation, Jeff was exposed to all facets of the business including operations, back-office functions, and facilities management. In 1999, Jeff started a brokerage operation for Hiner Transport.
Jeff is currently the Vice President of Agent Development for one of the largest truckload brokers in North America. His was previously the Regional Vice President of Sales for the western half of the country.
He thrives on passing on knowledge gained and sharing motivation stories to students who desire success in freight brokering. Brooke Transportation Training Solutions is proud to have him as an expert instructor. You will gain invaluable insights sitting under his teaching.
Brad Lingo, Instructor
Brad is highly qualified and talented at teaching freight brokering. His classes are engaging and provide a wealth of information. Students participate in hands-on and interactive role-playing exercises. He brings years of experience on both sides of the desk, buying freight from brokers and agents, and selling freight services. He is well equipped to answer any questions students have from his real life experience in the dynamic transportation industry.
Brad truly understands this industry from his varied experience. For a decade, as the Transportation Manager for a large food manufacturer, Brad maintained inventories at ten D. C. around the U. S. and one in Canada. He managed freight shipments using full truckload, rail, less than truckload and ocean freight. He negotiated rates and coordinated the efforts of warehouse personnel.
Currently, Brad works the other side of the desk, the “freight broker” side. For the last decade, he has become proficient in all freight methods and warehousing. He can train others to turn cold calls into new business because that is what he does regularly as a highly esteemed representative of a major freight brokerage.
Brad inspires his students with these words: “This is a great career. If an individual is willing to put in hard work in the beginning and follow the process, they can achieve great success as a freight broker or agent. There is plenty of freight out there for everyone!”
Brandi Patterson, Instructor
Brandi teaches with a flair that is both inspiring and incredibly insightful. She landed her first account while still in freight broker/agent class at Brooke Transportation Training and continued to grow from there. She is new enough in the industry to remember and relate to what it’s like to be a student in freight broker school, yet she has enough experience to teach others the keys to success as a freight broker.
Prior to becoming a freight broker agent, Brandi honed skills in the construction industry that have helped her achieve success as a freight broker. She owned and operated a very successful commercial construction company. After that, she branched off into commercial interior design.
“I soon found with my commercial design jobs, it cost me valuable time and money if my inventory wasn’t shipped on time. I decided to educate myself on how to get commodities from point A to point B more efficiently. Brooke Transportation Training was recommended to me from a successful agent who’d taken the course. I took the online class first, then took the live course. I put all that I had been taught into action and now currently have a good base of customers.
After about a year as a freight broker, I was approached by the owners of Brooke Transportation to entertain the idea of teaching. I accepted and absolutely love it. I want to see everyone find success. I’m no super salesman. I just followed Brooke’s instructions and Voila! A new customer! Just keep your focus, stay upbeat, and the sky’s the limit!”
